slow fashion & sustainable packaging
We all know waste is a problem. The fashion industry has long relied on consumers hungry for the latest styles and trends, causing manufacturers to ramp up production mainly through unsustainable methods. Fast fashion relies on a constant turnover of poor quality garments that wear out after a few uses. Not only this, but it also creates mountains of unsold stock that build up in warehouses. It's well known that luxury brands regularly destroy their end-of-season leftovers.
In fact, 30% of the world’s clothes are never sold.
As individuals and as a brand, we want to offer a viable alternative between fast fashion on the high street and exorbitant luxury price tags. We are committed to building a more sustainable story by making products that have built-in value, quality and longevity.
This is why we produce in small runs, in order to meet demand and make sure nothing is wasted. If you would like one of our products but is out of stock, please get in touch with us. You may have to wait a few weeks but we will get your ethically made dress to you. And you can rest assured no unwanted dresses are sitting around anywhere.
reducing our packaging waste
Single-use plastic is sadly the norm in the industry, but we've removed it from our packaging. We asked our partners in Bali to avoid plastic when packing our lovely dresses. No poly bags are used and instead each dress comes to us wrapped in paper. We then recycle this paper, steam your dress and send it to you with lots of love.
You will receive a compostable mailer bag
Mailer bags are lighter and less bulky than cardboard boxes, which leads to a lower carbon footprint when they're transported.
They’re weather proof, easily recyclable and 100% biodegradable. The bags are made from a combination of corn-based bioplymers and decompose in 6 months. They are certified both for home and commercial compost.
a note on compost
To be certified home compostable, a product must break down within 90 or 180 days, depending on whether it's in home or commercial composting conditions.
Sometimes people don’t notice that something is compostable, meaning it can end up in the landfill. If you don’t have a home compost, you can look at local options for communal compost sites.
Composting your food scraps at home is a great and easy solution to food waste while creating natural fertiliser for your plants. If you're interested you can find different options for your home compost here: https://tendergardener.com/composting-in-singapore/
We're proud to be part of the eco-packaging alliance and to contribute to global reforestation. For every one of our compostable mailer orders, our packaging partner will plant a tree in an area of need. On top of this, you can also choose to plant a tree with your order. Every month we pass the money collected to non-profit organisation One Tree Planted.
